    Saturday – Night One highlights

The Usos against Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs was just kickin’ it up a gear when the injury to Boogs occurred. A shame really as this was brewing into something decent up until that point.

Happy Corbin vs. Drew McIntyre was solid I thought as they played it out well with McIntyre having to get through Madcap twice, in the lead up to this match; plus the injury angle they shot at ‘Day 1’ and this match was enjoyable I thought. Side note: I’m personally a supporter of Corbin’s as whatever gimmick he’s given he tries to make the best of it and make it plausible. Very underrated talent!

Rey and Dominik Mysterio vs. The Miz and Logan Paul showed us the natural flair of Logan Paul; His leapfrog is one of the best in the game. The way he worked the crowd with the Eddie taunt and the ‘Three Amigos’ was pro stuff. Everyone played a solid part here and The Miz turning on Logan, after their victory, set the wheels in motion for their ‘SummerSlam’ banger…..

Cody Rhodes’ return against Seth Rollins was the beginning of a fantastic trilogy of matches between the two. When two of the modern day best lock horns, magic is created.

Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair crushed it for the ‘Raw Women’s Championship’. There is something about the connection these two have where they always deliver or over deliver. Good, solid contest putting Bex’s cunning against Bianca’s power.

Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey for the ‘Smackdown Women’s Championship’ was my personal favourite of the night. Special! ‘Nuff said!

Kevin Owens and ‘Stone Cold’ smack talked and blew it all off with a ‘No Holds Barred’ match where Austin took a flat back bump on the floor which really surprised me. KO bumped like crazy for him but not to the point where it looked unnatural.

I had something to say about every match on the above card, but that’s because every match left somewhat of a positive impression. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the proceeding night…..

    Sunday – Night 2 Highlights

‘Anything Goes’ Match Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville: On paper this match had the potential to stink the joint out; but, within the confines of the match concept, it all made sense whilst still using the various ‘Jackass’ props and characters. Wee Man lit Sami up with those punches! The mousetrap setup on the table tickled me as Sami asked Johnny: ‘Did you do that’ The giant hand smacking Sami; The bowling ball into the nuts; the giant mousetrap. They all sound ludicrous but, when viewed as entertainment, this was one of the best matches of the year, whilst still maintaining a level of logic. There I’ve said it! The only letdown was the amount of time it took to set off the giant mousetrap, but then again nothing’s perfect.

Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns ‘Title for Title’ Uninfication Match. This thing felt like a big deal and was booked as such. Another one of the physical encounters to add to the list of Reigns/ Lesnar matches over the years. I loved the spot when Lesnar caught Reigns and applied the Kamura lock, when Reigns was going for the Spear. A solid main event; second only to their ‘Mania 31’ match and just a shade ahead of their ‘Mania 34’ match.

Final thoughts: Night two just didn’t have the complete package like night one did, and it’s a shame Edge vs. AJ didn’t deliver as that would’ve significantly improved the night’s content. Overall: I’d definitely recommend for the craziness of Zayn and Knoxville alone to be honest…..

This year’s WM was a great show. Both nights were fun to watch though I still prefer night 1. The DVD/BD set is great. Pciture quality is superb even on the DVD version. Both versions have the same contents with ‘Taker’s HOF speech being the only extra.
    A must buy.
