Watching back SummerSlam 2011 reminded of the great potential that was felt in CM Punk’s rise to the main event scene. He was a breath of fresh air after years of Cena on top without competition and the bungled Nexus run they year prior, but ultimately the Summer of Punk peaked at Money in the Bank and fell apart at SummerSlam.
This was a good show all in all but not a top 10 SummerSlam by any means. Christian vs. Orton is a great match, but nothing else on the show comes close to that level. It’s a three star show IMO, but four stars overall as a blu ray package. It’s a worthwhile purchase for sure (especially at Black Friday prices!)
